Wanborough 2 - 0 Ferndale (HT)

Best scoreline of the season so far. Two goals up at half time against the league leaders. Two impressive goals as a result of proper football. It was just like watching Man United (almost).

Unfortunately the slope, constant pressure from Ferndale and a lack of concentration resulted in 4 goals + a penalty for Ferndale (5-2 final score).

Captain's MoM (chosen by Will A) George for an excellent effort against a tricky Ferndale winger.
Coaches' MoM was awarded to the best defensive display today - this was from Ewan (lots of other contenders too)

Good points: We showed in the first half that we can defend well if we set our mind to it - and scoring two goals on the break was impressive. We played some good defensive football.

Improvement required: Another 10 minute spell of low energy and poor attention lost us a couple of goals. We need to keep going when decisions (such as a corner or penalty) go against us.

Training as normal at St Jo's on Monday 22/3 and Monday 29/3 (after Easter we are back at the Rec for training)

No match on Sunday 28/3.

No training Monday 15/3

Unfortunately PX and I are both unavailable for training tomorrow due to work commitments - so no training on 15/3.

Sunday 14/3

It seems we are destined to lose 8-2 to Wootton Bassett! A great long range goal from Charlie in first half and a goal from Tom H in the second gave us our two goals.

Our main weakness and learning point today is about marking and running back, especially from midfield - too many times WB had 4 or 5 players in our 18-yard box against only one or two Wanborough players. Overall we need to do much more running.

For a long period in the second half we played well and created some good chances - it was nice to see a couple of offsides. While we need to watch straying offside, at least it means there has been a pass and someone running into space.

Captain's MoM - Charlie - chosen by Jonny for his goal
Coaches' MoM - Will A - for working hard in defence and then for some exciting play after moving into midfield.

Special mention to Dominic for a very effective and team-spirited role in defence.

We are away next week at Ferndale (B) midday kickoff and will let you know details ASAP
