After a good first half with a clean sheet and a few chances, the second half was the poorest performance we have had for a while. We let in 3 goals as a result of various mistakes before some determination from Johan won a consolation goal.
Captain's MoM: Benjamin chosen by Will for his defending - Benj played in a slightly different position today at inside left defence and did very well in his job covering behind the outside left.
Coaches' MoM: Harry - worked hard in defence with a couple of last minute clearances.
Training tomorrow as usual.
Due to our walk-over in the cup, the next scheduled match is on Sunday 14/11 away at Greenmeadow - although we may try to schedule a match before then and will let you know if so. Please keep us up-to-date with your availability.

Calne 8 - 1 Wasps and at home on Sunday 17/10
Once again the scoreline doesn't really reflect on the performance.
Lots of positives today:
- we played especially well in midfield, winning the ball and passing up to the forwards/wing
- we created some good chances and "looked likely to get a couple more goals" according to their coach
- we scored our first goal of the season (well done Arthur)
As ever, we let in quite a few soft goals, especially letting them get to the ball before us in the box. We were often too slow to react to quick corners and loose balls. You are playing football, you are not a spectator!
The effort level increased above last week - but we need every player to put in as much effort as the opposition, not just some players.
Captains MoM - Will A. for some strong defensive work (chosen by Jonny)
Coaches MoM - Samuel for excellent midfield play
Training Monday as normal (pls remember to send £2 for the biscuit fund if you haven't already done so)
We have arranged to play Croft next week 17/10 (rather than in January). We are at HOME. Meet at 9.30 for 10am kick off. I'll assume everyone is available unless you let me know....

We are through to the last 16 of the cup!
Due to the withdrawal of Penhill Allstars U12s we are through to the last 16 of the League Cup. A chance to do some giant-killing against either Liden A or Hungerford.
Wasps 0 - 7 Cirencester
Not a great result today (!) but quite a few positives,
- moving Charlie to a forward position worked well and he linked in well with Arthur
- the defensive line worked well
- Benjamin and Will A played well on the left
- Sam and Tom battled hard in midfield and attempted to pass up to the forwards
- Jonny wasn't scared to leave his goal line to clear an oncoming ball (perhaps too enthusiastically sometimes!)
However,
- we were rarely first to the ball
- we were slow to react and get back to balls being passed through the defensive line
- on average we played at about 60% effort - which is simply not good enough
- it took too long to learn their tactics (eg long throws clearing everyone's heads)
- we didn't take our chances in front of goal.
Captains MoM (chosen by Arthur) - Jonny
Coaches MoM - Nick for leading the defence
Training tomorrow at St Jo's.
We are away next week at Calne (afternoon kick off) and will confirm and provide directions in the week. Meanwhile pls let us know if you are not available or need a lift.
