Avondale 4 - 4 Wasps

A well deserved point today. We fought hard all match and scored some great goals in an exciting game. We had no substitutes against Avondale's squad of 16 and it was a very big pitch! After a scoreless 15 minutes, Avondale went ahead, only for Johan to score direct from the restart (4 touches from the whistle to the back of the net!) We lead briefly after another 2 goals from Johan both as a result of some good passing from midfield. Score: 3-3 at half time. Johan pounced again to get goal #4 after the break. Unfortunately Avondale scored again to draw level at 4-4. Despite a nervous last 10 minutes with chances at both ends and a very tired Wanborough team, it finished at 4-4. Good points - 100% effort from everybody. Some fantastic "route 1" balls. Midfield passing and tackling. Improvement needed - marking was slack at times and defence needs to be more assertive and not let the ball bounce around in the box. Captain's MoM (chosen by Jonny) - Johan (4 goals - enough said!) Coaches MoM - jointly awarded to - Liam for running his socks off in midfield, tackling and passing well. Dom for making his most valuable contribution for a long time - tackling, clearing and concentrating all match.
