A lovely day for a football match today, unfortunately not such a lovely result.
The big learning point was from the 4 basic errors that led directly to 4 of the 5 opposition's goals:
- we cannot leave balls to bounce around in the box and assume the opposition won't try to score (twice!)
- the opposition will shoot from the edge of the box if we don't get a player in front of them
- a miss-kicked clearance is like a free pass to the opposition in the box
That said, there was also some great defending today against a strong Cirencester forward line. It was great to see some of the training tactics, such as throw-ins to feet, being shown in the match. We made lots of chances (esp in the first half) and there were spells in both halfs when we were the stronger team.
Well done to Tyrome for getting his first goal of the season.
Captain's MoM (chosen by Tom): Ty for his goal and energy chasing down balls upfront
Coaches' MoM: Lewis for an excellent battling performance in his first game for us
Training as normal Monday at St Jos.
Next week we re-start our winning streak away at Shaw B (Chestnut Springs) meet at 1.30pm for 2pm kick off (no Harry C, Harry F)
