To use a cliché, it was a game of 2 halves today. Fortunately it was played in a much more pleasant environment than last time.
It seemed most of the boys weren't interested in the first half. We were rarely first to the ball, put in lazy challenges and were forced to defend for 30 minutes. We let in one goal as a result of a series of mistakes. The positive aspect is that we were able to defend and defend for an extended period.
The half-time talk must have been inspirational (!) as the second half was very different. Everyone worked hard. Challenges were firm and quick and we played higher up the pitch. Defending was solid when we needed it from all the defence, in particular from Liam and Will. Arthur brought us level and then Johan hit two (among a couple of strikes against the woodwork).
Captain's MoM (chosen by Jack): Johan for his goals and attempts on goals.
Coaches' MoM: Will Arnold for his covering defensive work and never letting-up.
Training tomorrow at St Jo's as normal (7.15pm to 8.30pm). Part of football is learning to look after your kit. Extra sweets on offer for anyone who shows us a clean pair of boots (no sweets if cleaned by Mum!). PX has warned he may refuse to play anyone who turns up with muddy boots!
No match next week (Swindon at Wembley).
Last few matches (please let me know if you are unavailable):
01/04/12 10:30 Wootton Bassett Town @ Ballards Ash Pitch 1
15/04/12 10:30 Home vs Stratton Youth
29/04/12 14:00 Shaw B @ Chestnut Springs 5
We should be aiming for 7 - 9 more points from these games!
