A great game to start the season. Well done to everyone today for working hard in the hot sunshine and getting a point on the board.
The result is encouraging and we could have won it - we came close several times including Charlie hitting the bar. More importantly we played some excellent football - defending was strong, midfield were creative and caused no end of problems for Stratton and the forwards created chances and chased down balls.
We were unlucky to concede 1 minute before half time having kept the opposition at bay for 35 minutes. We certainly deserved the equaliser from Johan.
Among many super performances today, coaches' MoM was Arthur, who worked hard despite getting a knock and showed a good temperament in some challenging conditions.
As indicated last season, we intend to appoint a "permanent" Captain (rather than change it every week). The first Captain will take the position until Christmas. Then we will either revert to the rotation system or appoint a new Captain for the remainder of the season. We will appoint the Captain and tell the boys in the next couple of weeks.
As mentioned, we are low on numbers so need your continued support to turn out every week regardless - thank you to the two players who played today despite carrying injuries.
Training Monday 6.30 - 7.30pm. Match Sunday 16th Cup match away at Sevenfields (Meadowcroft) 10 for 10.30 k.o.
